The OECD Observatory of Public Sector Innovation (OPSI)  and its partners at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation are excited to convene innovators from around the world for a conference on Innovation in Government: The New Normal on 20-21 November 2017. The conference will highlight insights from OPSI’s work with countries that are transforming their operations and improving the lives of their people through innovation. It will bring together government leaders, public servants, and innovative partners in industry and civil society to connect, share experiences, and collaborate.

Emily Schmitt is the Deputy Director of the Office of Planning, Research & Evaluation (OPRE) in the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. As Deputy Director, Ms. Schmitt works closely with ACF's Deputy Assistant Secretary for Planning, Research, and Evaluation to plan and execute the mission of OPRE. Prior to becoming Deputy Director, Ms. Schmitt served as a research analyst in OPRE from 2009 - 2016, during which time she initiated and led OPRE’s work on the application of behavioral economics to human services and oversaw projects related to Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, employment and training, and homeless and disconnected families. Prior to joining OPRE, Ms. Schmitt worked for the U.S. House of Representatives and the National Alliance to End Homelessness. She is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Kennedy School.
