Long-term trends and unpredictable challenges affect citizens’ well-being and demand a long-term vision, evidence-based investments and coordinated action. Governments are increasingly becoming aware of the importance of a better use of data to respond to these challenges, while also improving the productivity, performance and inclusiveness of policies and services. A data-driven public sector is one that transforms the design, delivery and monitoring of public policies and services through the management and use of data. This session explores governments’ progress in harnessing data to fuel innovation and transform their operations to meet 21st century demands and emerging trends on the horizon.
